Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit ecumenical Christian housing ministry that encourages people of all faiths to work together to eradicate substandard housing. Being involved with Habitat for Humanity-Greater Columbus (HFHGC) is a wonderful way for congregations to put their faith into action.
Habitat’s mission is derived from the concept of what Milliard Fuller, Habitat founder, called the Theology of the Hammer, which is the idea that people of all different faiths, ideologies, and backgrounds are welcome to participate in Habitat's work. People may disagree on religious, political, or philosophical issues, but Habitat is a place to lay differences aside, pick up a hammer, and help make a difference in someone's life.
Faith partnerships play a critical role in the success of Habitat for Humanity-Greater Columbus.
Congregations can spread the word about the numerous opportunities available for individuals, small groups, and the entire congregation to participate in the Habitat for Humanity-Greater Columbus program.
